Oh, I do like to be beside the Seaside!

Peregrines Class Blog

What a fabulous day!

Yesterday Peregrines went on our trip to Weston-Super-Mare, we learnt all about Seasides in the past and today! We spotted donkeys, swing boats, the Grand Pier, the old pier, a horse and cart, the seaside train, the coastguard and Archie even spotted a lighthouse in the distance! We met Graham, our Grand Pier tour guide and Trevor our coach driver.

We left school at 9am and travelled for 1 hour to Weston. We were incredibly well behaved and Mrs Clifford and Mrs Keyse learnt all about Trevor’s honeymoon in Weston back in 1973 (what a treat).

When we arrived Graham met us at the entrance to the pier, Did you know it is 1/4 of a mile from the beach to the end of the pier?

Owls at Gastrells

We had a fantastic day today. The weather was good to us and we did some exciting activities. We started the day with a woodland walk , meeting some of the creatures who live in the woodland. Then, after a snack we went to the pond and did some pond dipping. One group were lucky enough to net a small stickleback. We went back to the meadow for a picnic lunch and after lunch we collected wood for a fire. We ended the day cooking crumpets over the fire. The children said that the day had been ‘epic’, ‘amazing’, ‘exciting’ and the ‘massively best day ever!’

These are just a selection of photographs taken on the day. Look out for more in your child’s scrapbook at the end of the year and at Owls Class Assembly, next Friday 12th June!!

Shapes, shapes, everywhere!

Peregrines Class Blog

Wow, what fun! This week we have been learning about 3D shapes. We have been making 3D shapes with construction kits, naming 3D shapes, finding the properties of 3D shapes and some of us have even been investigating the many different ways of making Nets of Cubes! The children have loved learning about the Faces, Edges and Vertices of 3D shape, the difference between a cube and cuboid and even the difference between vertices and points. Well done Peregrines! Keep it up!
