Sparrowhawks today continued their learning from last weeks lesson about abstract, geometrical painting. We looked at paintings by the Russian artist Kandinsky, which use shapes, straight lines and blocks of colour. We used 2D shapes from Maths resources as stencils to create interesting patterns. Pupils explored using lighter and darker shades of the same colour, to create different contrasts in their painting. We will finish our paintings next week, and discuss what we like about each others’ paintings so far.
Since Christmas Eagles have been developing their gymnastics skills. This unit culminated in the children working in pairs to choreograph their own sequences and share these with the parents on Friday.
I was incredibly proud to watch how far the children had come, developing their control, balance and key skills, as well as this they all showed a huge amount of courage to perform their 2 minute long sequences in front of a packed audience.
