Kai and Laurence made their way through to the KNex Challenge finals in Cheltenham where they had to create some equipment for a gym. Have a look at what they created – they were very proud of their piece.

Getting creative
Mrs Radway had a wonderful hat made for her yesterday in Owls. She wore it proudly! There were some amazing creations including bracelets, hats and rings.
Sports Relief
Well done to everyone for participating in Sports Relief. Classes have been running the Sports Relief Mile, and staff, children and parents are ready for their netball matches this afternoon!
We have already raised over £150. What great support.
Science and D&T Challenge Day
Six lucky scientists had the opportunity to visit Westonbirt school to take part in a Science and Design & Technology challenge day. The children had the opportunity to work with smart materials, make mazes for hexbots, map out the solar system and explore wind turbines during the day, as well as finding out about life in a private school! Well done to all six girls who represented Gastrells brilliantly with their quick thinking and questioning skills.
Gymnastics
Well done to Euan, Isabella, Imogen, Ria, Freya and Ruby who competed in the Stroud schools gymnastics competition. They came in a fantastic fourth place, missing out on third place by only 0.5 of a point.
They each performed a floor routine and 2 vaults, with everyone making a great impression on the judges. Have a look at them in action.
Wildlife Quiz
Well done to the wildlife quiz team – Jacinta, Taibian, Toby and Kai who performed really well today. They won their heat and have progressed through to the next round.

D&T Expo
Gastrells’ parents, grandparents and siblings were treated to our annual Design and Technology Expo yesterday. Each class had displayed their work from the last term and were able to demonstrate how their models worked and how their topic and design work had supported their model-making. Parents were able to see the progression in skills from YR in Owls right through to Y5&6 in Eagles.
