NSPCC Visits Year 5 & 6

On Thursday 28th Natalie from the NSPCC came into speak with year 5 and 6. We looked at how to keep safe, identified the different types of abuse and thought about all the ‘Trusted Adults’ at home, school and in the community, who we could speak to if we were worried, frightened or upset. All the children were very receptive to the message and gave some excellent answers.

Amazing Gymnastics…

Owls at Gastrells

Today we had a fantastic gymnastics session. We were travelling along the apparatus, jumping off and rolling. We watched a video of a little boy doing a forward roll and standing up straight away and we tried really hard to copy what he had done  in our session. Mrs Bestford  was impressed with how much effort we put into the activity. She was also pleased with how much progress we have made since our first session when some of us were a little bit scared of the apparatus…she was also delighted with our team work and problem solving when we put the apparatus away at the end! Amazing work Owls! Well Done!

Calling all gymnasts!

Next term we are looking to host our first ever Gastrells gymnastics competition with year 5 & 6 (and the odd exception) children from Selsley, Haresfield and Painswick competing in teams against each other to win the prestiduous ‘Gastrells Gymnastics Shield’. Teams will consist of 7 children from each house with the competition being split into two sections: the vault and a floor routine (see the image I have attached below).

Mr Muskett will be holding reversals every Tuesday after half term leading up to the competition which will be held before the Easter holidays. If you would like to be considered to represent your house please leave a comment below (if we have more than 7 children apply for each team we will hold try outs to select the team), if you have any questions catch me at school.
